Paleo Diet Recipes from the Paleo Diet Community

Dear Readers,

This recipe was emailed to us from a reader. If you have your own Paleo recipes you'd like to share with the Paleo Diet community please add a comment to this post.

Banana Pancake
Mash one whole banana. Add an egg, lightly beat together. For extra flavor, add coconut chips, vanilla extract (just a dash) and cinnamon.

Pour this mixture into a frying pan and cook as you would a regular pancake. This is one of my favorite things to eat! You can also do this with a grated apple. Enjoy! I now look forward to breakfast the Paleo way!

  1. Made this today, they were awesome! I didn't have coconut chips on hand so I used coconut butter and they still turned out great.
    Thanks!

  2. This recipe is amazing! Used only egg whites, banana and cinnamon - excellent. Nothing beats the genius of simplicity. Thanks so much for posting this.

  3. I have not been able to find the answer to this question: is Celery root starchy, or unstarchy? What about sun chokes?
    Thanks!

  4. Posted on behalf of Maelán:

No, celery root is not considered a starchy food, nor is sunchoke (Jerusalem Artichoke). The most starchy foods are: rice, wheat, maize, potatoes, cassava, buckwheat, barley, oat, millet, rye, banana, sorghum, sweet potato, taro and yams.

    Best wishes,

    Maelán

  5. I have been eating Paleo for the past four months (with a few non-Paleo eats here and there). In the beginning, it was simply an experiment to see how my body would react, but after seeing an amazing increase in strength, energy, and overall well-being, and a decrease in body fat, I am totally in!

I am sharing my experiences with CrossFit and Paleo(recipes and recipe modification) on my blog:

Check it out and see what I'm cooking up!

  6. Be careful of this recipe if you have already have impaired blood glucose tolerance (IGT). I've made these for my 11 yo son (with added almond butter and cocoa powder). But when I ate 4 small pancakes (3-4") my BG went up much higher than I'd like (102 mg/dL before breakfast, 139 mg/dL at 2 hours after breakfast). I'd be better off with cooked eggs and no bananas, or coconut flour pancakes.

  7. Wow, sounds like a great way to use fruit that is starting to get old/brown around the edges. I love fruit, but only seem to eat it in spirts, which always leaves some laying around.

    Thanks again,
    Earl

  8. I need to steer clear of plants from the nightshade category since I have multiple sclerosis. Are cassava and taro nightshades?
